Sound Familiar?

The Drain Problems That Only Get Worse on Their Own

These are the calls we get every single week. If this sounds like your house, we can help.

  • Slow Kitchen Drain

The sink takes forever to empty. You are standing there waiting, watching the water inch down while dishes pile up. Grease, food particles, and soap buildup are the usual suspects.

  • Standing Water in the Shower

You are ankle-deep by the time you finish showering. Hair, soap scum, and mineral deposits build up over time. Store-bought drain cleaner is not going to cut it.

  • Drain Backing Up

Water coming back up when you run the washing machine or flush the toilet. That is a sign of a blockage deeper in the line, and it will only get worse if you ignore it.

  • Bad Smells Coming from Drains

That sewer smell when you walk into the bathroom or kitchen is not normal. It usually means trapped debris is decomposing in the pipe, or the P-trap has gone dry. Either way, it needs attention.

Sewer line work in the crawlspace, Mountaintop Plumbing
A Real Job We Handled

The "Crawlspace Leak" That Turned Out to Be a Fully Blocked Sewer Line

Mountaintop got dispatched to an unknown water leak in a crawlspace. A home inspector had flagged it during a buyer's walk-through. The owner had no idea where the water was coming from.

We crawled under the house and found the source. It was not a leak. It was an old drain line, originally used for furnace condensate, left open in the crawlspace and forgotten. Water was pouring out of it every time someone flushed a toilet or ran a fixture.

Outside, the main sewer line at the inlet to the septic tank was completely closed off by root penetration. Every drop of water leaving the house was getting backed up at that root mass and forced out the open line under the house. That drain had been completely plugged for months. Possibly years. The owner had no idea.

We excavated the septic tank to confirm the root closure, removed the blockage, repaired the faulty sewer line, and installed a new cleanout outside the home so the drain can be accessed in the future without going through the same dig.

Outcome: All returned to normal the same day. Buyer closed on the home. Owner has a permanent cleanout for future service.
From Google Reviews

"My dad passed away a couple days before I needed help with some plumbing. We had family coming into town the next day. I called several companies to help us with our sink plumbing mess and they couldn't make it until the next day. I called Mountaintop at 4pm for help and they got right up and took care of our mess. They were very professional and even sent my mom a card for her loss."

Common Questions

What Bonners Ferry Homeowners Ask About Drain Cleaning

How fast can you get out for a drain call?
Drain calls are priority at Mountaintop Plumbing. If water is flooding or leaking, we offer same-day service. For an ongoing slow drain that is not urgent, we schedule accordingly, usually the first call the following morning. If you have an alternate toilet that takes the pressure off, we work it into the schedule that fits best for you.
What causes slow drains?
The most common causes are grease buildup in kitchen drains, hair and soap scum in bathroom drains, and mineral deposits in older pipes. Tree roots can also infiltrate sewer lines and cause slow drainage throughout the house.
How often should drains be cleaned?
For most homes, professional drain cleaning every 1 to 2 years is a good preventive measure. If you notice recurring slow drains or frequent clogs, more frequent cleaning may be needed. We can assess your situation and recommend a schedule.
Can you fix recurring clogs?
Yes. If a drain keeps clogging, it usually means there is a deeper issue like a partial blockage further down the line, pipe damage, or root intrusion. We diagnose the root cause and fix it so the problem stops coming back.
Do you use chemicals to clean drains?
No. Chemical drain cleaners can damage pipes and are only a temporary fix. We use professional-grade mechanical and hydro equipment to clear clogs completely and safely.
